Children directly impacted
About Ajibu Community.
More than 90% of children are enrolled in school, yet
83% of children are unable to read with
comprehension or perform basic maths at grade level.
This learning crisis threatens not only individual futures of
children, but the social and economic development of
communities and nations.
Ajibu Community is an education organization transforming learning by improving teaching quality. We believe this learning crisis is not an access problem – it is a teaching quality problem. When teachers are equipped with the right tools, skills and support, children learn better.
Through our model school, we design, test, and refine learner-centered approaches that work in real classrooms. We develop hands-on learning resources that make learning practical and engaging, and we train teachers to use them effectively.
Our work empowers teachers, transforms classrooms and improves learning outcomes to ensure that every child in school has a clear path to success.
Our work
Ajibu Community works with schools as a teaching and
implementation partner to improve learning outcomes in
classrooms.
We do this by;
Operating a model school in rural Eastern Uganda where Play-Based and Project-Based learning approaches are designed, tested, and demonstrated in practice.
Delivering in-person teacher professional development that is practical, classroom-focused, and grounded in everyday teaching.
Developing, testing and distributing classroom-ready learning and play resources that facilitate active learning in the classroom and the development of life skills.
Support schools with monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement helping them track learning progress and enhance teaching practice over time.
Our approach
Ajibu Community responds directly to the learning crisis by addressing its root cause: Teaching Quality. We believe effective teacher development must go beyond one-off workshops. Lasting impact and improvement requires continuous practice, reflection and accountability.
Our approach involves:
Designing and testing practical pedagogies and teaching strategies that work in both high-resource and low-resource classrooms settings.
Train teachers on how to teach, not just what to teach with strong focus on learner engagement and understanding.
Providing practical tools and resources that teachers can immediately use in their classrooms.
Supporting sustained improvement through continuous teacher development, coaching and classroom-level support.
Through this integrated approach, we strengthen teaching practice, improve learner engagement and support schools to achieve measurable improvements in learning outcomes.
